Drug Addiction Treatment Question Answered

Hey everyone. I am looking for place for drug addiction and treatment for my little cousin. He’s only 20 years old. I feel it can help him not – instead of 5 years from now he has the possibility of becoming more addicted even using different gateway drugs. I would like to know some good places for addiction treatment.

” gateway drugs”? I’m sorry did you here that on fox news or CNN or something? I’m not being offensive or smart, but just because some one uses drugs does not mean they are an addict. first you need to determine if your cousin is in fact addicted to drugs. or if he is a 20 year old kid doing what most 20 year old kids do. which is party with there friends. then you need to know if he wants help. because if he doesn’t want help then there is no rehab in the world that is going to do a damn thing for him. see, in the post above me there is comments by TAHER and NITESH. they are reps from drug rehabs and what they will tell you is to bring the guy in, then they will assess him and IF HE’S INSURED or HAS THE CASH, that he is an addict! and they will surely fix him right up! they’ll quote phoney success rates and tell you about all these great programs they have at their facility!

but the truth is; as soon as his insurance runs out or he cant pay than he will be magically cured. don’t fall for it. listen I have more experience with addiction and rehabs than most people and I’ll be strait with you. just because you don’t like the life he leads or the things he does, it does not give you the right nor the authority to tell him he has a problem. how he lives may not be what you think is best or moral or what ever, but you cant enforce your moral standards on to another person. now that being said, i know you must love him and want what’s best for him or else you wouldn’t have written. he has to determine if he has a problem and he has to WANT to quit. otherwise its a waste of time. if he does want to quit then you need to be careful which rehab you choose. try to find one that offers many kinds of treatment, behavioral modification, replacement therapy, aa/na, rational recovery, smart recovery, there are many new and innovative recovery methods available today. And recovery is not a blanket treatment!! i cant stress that enough. recovery must deal with the underlying issues of cause of use. meaning; drug use at the addiction level is NOT the issue at hand. It is the SYMPTOM of a deeper emotional/mental turmoil. and in order to treat the disease you must deal with the emotional catalyst of the use.

so ask around talk to people who have been in recovery and interview 4-5 rehabs before you decide. find the one that best treats the whole issue not just the symptoms. I hope your not offended but I have to tell it real or I wouldn’t really be helping you. and don’t take advise about addiction treatment from aa/na cult members or so called counselors who learned about addiction by reading a book. talk to the people who have lived with it and through it. may you be safe and your cousin too. oh if he would like to talk just comment on my blog I’m there every day.
